Grounding for Protection

One of the questions that is often asked on our training courses is how can I protect myself from other people’s energy and one of the first ways we always suggest is to practice staying grounded.

Staying grounded means to stay present with your body and stay connected to the earth, which allows you to stay centered and balanced no matter what is going on around you.

A good analogy is to think of a tree with an enormous canopy of branches overhead and then to imagine that underneath the ground where it stands are the roots which expand as far below ground as the canopy of branches stretches above.

There are lots of way you can practice grounding yourself and they include:

  • Walking barefoot outdoors, or simply place your feet on the floor and wriggle your toes until you can feel that stability from the earth again
  • Mindfully choose a rock or a stone to represent a connection to the earth, meditate with it and once that subtle connection has been made, carry it in your pocket every day as a constant reminder to feel grounded
  • If you have a knowledge of Kinesiology you could run through the grounding/centering techniques you have learned on our courses
  • Give yourself a foot rub
  • Do a meditation which focuses on the root chakra – the root chakra is connected with grounding
